Condition Guide — what our grades mean

Every console, game and accessory on Playloot.ie is pre-owned and goes through the same full multi-point functional test before it's listed, and every item is covered by our 1-month guarantee. So our condition grade describes cosmetics only — how the item looks, not whether it works. Whatever the grade: it works, it's tested, and it's guaranteed.

We photograph every unit exactly as it is, so the photos are the final word on what you're getting. The grade is the quick summary; the pictures show the detail.

1Pristine

Indistinguishable from new — no marks, scuffs or wear anywhere.

2Excellent

Very light use, only visible up close. No meaningful scratches. Clean ports, drives and connectors.

3Very Good

Light cosmetic wear — minor scuffs or scratches from everyday use. Works flawlessly. Our most common grade.

4Good

Noticeable cosmetic wear — scratches, scuffs or light discolouration — but fully tested and working.

5Fair

Heavy cosmetic wear — deep scratches, marks or yellowing. Cosmetically tired, but passes our full functional test.

How our grading compares

There's no official grading standard for pre-owned gaming in Ireland, so we use the same plain-English scale you'll recognise from the major refurbished-tech marketplaces. The difference is that we define every grade and back it with a functional test and our guarantee — so "Very Good" means the same thing on every listing you see here.
